Over the last three years, Alex has built up an impressive portfolio of successful literature events. This has ranged from one-off author reading to significant literature festivals and conferences and taken in all aspects of event management including booking of venue and speakers, dealing with venue staff and technical, marketing activity and budget management. Alex has developed a specialism in science-fiction fantasy and horror writing but is happy to work in all genres and styles. April 2008- Alt.Fiction 3, Derby (Attendance 200)
A third one-day science-fiction, fantasy and horror event featuring leading names such as Brian Lumley, Michael Marshall Smith, Mike Carey and Charlie Stross.
Feb 2008- Writing Industries Conference, Loughborough (Attendance 150+)
A sold-out conference focussing on the career aspects of writing through a wide range of panel discussions featuring Stephen Booth, Graham Joyce, Paul Ashton (BBC Writers Room) and many more. Also featured a wide range of agent one-to-one sessions.
Feb 2008- Gifted and Talented Writing Project, Oldham (Attendance 30+)
A 3-day creative writing workshop for gifted and talented children at a range of ages, featuring talks and workshops from Conrad Williams, Juliet McKenna, Justina Robson and many more.
Oct 2007- Festival of Words, Derby
18 days of Literature events across the city featuring readings, workshops, theatre and discussions featuring authors such as John Hegly, Ian McMillan, Laura Thompson, Paul Magrs, Sam Hayes and many more
Apr 2007- Alt.Fiction 2, Derby (Attendance 200)
A second one-day science-fiction, fantasy and horror event featuring Iain Banks, Harry Harrison, Mike Carey, Peter F Hamilton and many more.
Oct 2006- Literally Speaking (Attendance 200+)
A week long series of poetry events featuring Mark Gwynne Jones and Psychicbread, Chris Tutton and many more
May 2006- Alt.Fiction, Derby (Attendance 100+)
